Excursion Segesta-Erice

Departure from Palermo port or Hotel. After an hour and a half drive you will reach the ancient town of Segesta, standing on a vast plateau in a naturally well defended position, probably built between the 5th and the 4th century BC. Here you will visit the quite well preserved Greek Theatre and the magnificent Doric Greek Temple, dating from the last 30 years of the 5th century:both are on two separate hills.
Then drive to the medieval town of Erice, which was settled by The Elymians and was an important religious site associated with goddesses of fertility. Wander through its ancient streets, the 12th century Norman Castle which is surrounded by a lovely park and visit some of the famous pastry home made shops, world-famous for marzipan candies and other delicacies like almond and pistachio pastry.
Return to the hotel or Port in the afternoon.
